New president, committtee to helm football Bintulu

BINTULU: Mohd Zaifulfadi­llah Junaidi is the new president of Bintulu Football Associatio­n ( Bifa) for the 2019-2021 term.

He won the post unconteste­d during Bifa’s annual general meeting (AGM) at a leading hotel here recently. Another candidate Sophie Shariee withdrew from the contest.

He replaced Duke Janteng who voluntaril­y stepped down after leading the associatio­n for the past 10 years.

Mehdi Yahya was elected as deputy president after polling more votes than Awang Jahmari Awang Junaidi.

The two vice presidents are Awang Morsal Awang Biak and Gecefferra­ma Lrm Ebbie.

The eight committee members are July Udus, Roziman Ramblie, Mohd Fadzillah Ismail, Mohd Isquandar Saudi, Zapri Manai, Shafiee Ahmad, Muhd Ilyasa Saffiee and Samsuri Narawi.

The secretary Mohd Amir Firdaus Abdullah and treasurer Awang Madihi Awang Yatim were appointed by the president and the new committee.

Former Bifa president Duke Janteng thanked all football clubs in the division for helping the associatio­n in implementi­ng the various football developmen­t programmes in Bintulu.

“I would l ike to express my g rat i tude t o a l l c lub representa­tives who present today for your support and I also would like to apologise for any shortcomin­gs for the past 10 years,” he said.

He revealed that his decision to step down was to give way to a new team of management to further develop and boost the image of the associatio­n to compete with other football associatio­ns.
