Business events to boost tourism industry

-

KUCHING: With the Business Events Forum 2018 (BE Forum 2018) just around the corner, the spotlight is on the business events sector in Malaysia as it is expected to boost the tourism industry in the country.

The BE Forum 2018, happening on October 10, 2018, will bring together industry players and stakeholders to the Setia City Convention Centre to share, deliberate and impart in latest trends, developments and issues faced by practitioners.

As Malaysia paves her way on another buoyant journey to increase tourism arrivals, business events will play an integral part in supporting the initiative.

With the average length of stay for conference and exhibition delegates at more than four days and at a higher delegate spend per conference, conferences and exhibitions will see a new growth curve for the tourism industry in Malaysia.

According to the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau, between 2015 and 2017, a total of 5.86 million business visitors travelled to Malaysia producing a direct expenditure to the nation at RM48.8 million and creating an economic impact of RM114 million.

Organised by the Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (MACEOS), BE Forum 2018 will see special sessions designed for associations heads, venue providers and professional conference organisers keen on understanding how to win or entice conferences to Malaysia.

Entitled ‘A Guide to Winning Conferences to Malaysia’, the overview will allow delegates to better understand the processes needed to conduct a successful bid to position Malaysia as a preferred destination for business events.

Conducted by professional conference organiser Gracie Geikie, associations will be better equipped to know of the services and government support available to help them in bringing in conferences to benefit their members in the related disciplines and fields of their expertise.

More information and delegate registration for BE Forum 2018 can be made at the website www. beforum. maceos. com. my or contact MACEOS Secretariat at beforum@maceos.com.my.
