KUCHING: Sarawak’s Loh Jack Chang and Audrey Chan Yee Jo are capable of giving their opponents a run for their money at the 3rd World Taijiquan Championships in Burgas, Bulgaria.

Wushu Federation of Sarawak deputy president James Ting Ing Seek said he is confident that the duo especially Jack Chang can do well in the meet from Sept 25 to Oct 2.

“Yes, I believe they do have the chance of winning the medals provided they stay focused and not make errors while executing their routines.

“Jack Chang has won medals in the World Wushu Championship and he is quite experienced while Audrey will need more exposure. It also depends on the athletes’ performance on competition day,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Ting, who is WFS head coach, said the duo are set to put their disappointment in the Jakarta Asian Games behind them and are looking forward to prove themselves.

“The World Taijiquan Championships format is different from the Asian Games because taijiquan and taijijian are counted as two events while taijiquan and taijijian are a combined event for one gold at the Asian Games.

“Let’s hope they can rise to the occasion and do the state and country proud,” he added.

Jack and Audrey are in the national team with Loh Choon How, Tan Zhi Yan, Mandy Cebelle Chen, Sydney Chin Sy Xuan and Chan Lu Yi for the World Taijiquan Championships.

They are coached by Tan Ching Fong while Wushu Federation of Malaysia Chong Kim Fatt is the team manager.
