Over 2,500 graduates receive scrolls at OUM convo ceremony
K UCH I NG : R e n own e d Malaysian film- maker Datuk Yusof Haslam was among the over 2,500 graduates who were conferred awards at PhD, Master, Postgraduate Diploma , B ac h e l o r a nd Diploma levels during Open University Malaysia’s ( OUM) 22nd Convocation ceremony at the Putra World Trade Centre recently.
Yusof received the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Arts ( Films) from Pro Chancellor Tan Sri Azman Hashim in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Malaysian film industry.
Known for the runaway success of Sembilu II, a film that earned him the nickname ` Six Million Dollar Man’, after smashing the box office collection of over RM6 million, Yusof has produced over 40 films under his production house label, Skop Productions.
Gerak Khas, a television series that he produced also made it into the Malaysia Book of Records for being the longest aired series on television.
Among those graduating were 294 international graduates from six countries and three graduates from Kajang Prison Integrity School ( Sekolah Integriti Penjara Kajang) who received Bachelor’s degrees and a Diploma.
Ten graduates, meanwhile received their PhDs at the convocation ceremony which was held over two days.
On Sept 23, 54 graduates from International Open College ( IOC) received their Bachelor and Diploma certificates at the convocation while over 500 will receive their certificates in a separate session during the IPD Awards Ceremony.
