MoCs chairman urges S’wak PKR members to leave the party

KUCHING: Movement for Change Sarawak ( MoCS) founding chairman Francis Siah has urged Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) members in Sarawak to leave the party as it is beset by internal struggles which are breaking it up.

Siah in making the call at a press conference here yesterday added that PKR had been creating a lot of problems in Pakatan Harapan ( PH), the federal ruling coalition, through the constant infighting among its leaders.

“I tell you PKR now is being seen as what I would say a party where many people want to be generals and not soldiers. We didn’t vote for a party or politicians or change the government that after being in power they are fighting like cats and dogs with one another. This is the problem with PKR in Malaya today,” he said.

Siah suggested to PKR elected representatives in Sarawak, who are mostly good and decent people, to either join any other existing party PH or form a new party.

“My most ideal suggestion to them is revive Sarawak National Party (SNAP) and all of them can be in that party,” he added.

Siah pointed out that SNAP gave Sarawakians their first Chief Minister and also their first Malaysian opposition leader.

He recalled that in 1974, Member of Parliament Dato Sri Edmund Langgu of SNAP was the Malaysian opposition leader, taking over the role from Lim Kit Siang.

“Of course this was the former leader of SNAP but the party itself was a respected party; I think even up to this stage. I suggest to the current good and decent representatives in Sarawak PKR to disband PKR in Sarawak because the elected representatives in Sarawak PKR deserve to be in a better party than PKR.”

Siah also cautioned against the spread of what he termed as ultra Malay culture of PKR to Sarawak.
