Nanta visits fire victims, gives them RM32,000 in aid

SONG: Kapit MP Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi visited the fire victims of Rumah Dagom Sangai at Nanga Makut in Sungai Katibas here on Wednesday and gave them RM32,000.

Each door received RM1,000 as relief assistance from the Kapit MP Service Centre.

Nanta was accompanie­d by Kapit parliament­ary special affairs officer Ambrose Abong and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) supreme council member Lidam Assan.

“I appreciate all types of assistance that have been delivered to the victims, which are managed by various parties comprising government department­s and agencies as well as nongovernm­ental organisati­ons.

“Your contributi­on will help ease the burden of the victims,” he said in his Facebook posting, yesterday.

The 32-door longhouse was razed to the ground at 8.20am Tuesday, leaving more than 250 residents homeless.

Democratic Action Party ( DAP) Katibas chairman Paren Nyawi also shared photos of his visit to the fi re victims in his Facebook on Wednesday.

Paren gave essential items such as mats, tents, lamps, rubber shoes, mineral water and food to the fi re victims. He also said the victims needed canopy for shelter due to the unpredicta­ble weather.

“They also need blankets, slippers, mattresses, pillows, cooking utensils, gas cylinders, clothes and other daily necessitie­s,” he said.
