Anmum Essential holds No Sugar roadshow
KUCHING: Malaysian preschoolers are consuming way too much sugar with an average of 7.6 teaspoons daily.
According to the Malaysian Dietary Guidelines for children and adolescents 2013, the recommended added sugar intake for children aged 2- 6 years old should be no more than 3 teaspoons and no more than 4 teaspoons of added sugar a day for children aged 7-10 years.
A recent scientific statement from American Heart Association said that there is clear evidence that added sugars, especially sugary beverages contribute to obesity and other metabolic problems.
This prompted Anmum Essential to kick start a campaign to encourage parents to know what is in the milk that they give their kids every day.
Anmum Essential’s No Added Sugar Roadshow/Campaign 2018 encourages parents to find out if their children are getting all the important nutrients they need without hidden sugars.
Some common examples of sugars are fructose, brown sugar, maltodextrin, dextrose, sucrose, corn syrup solids, glucose syrup solids, and white sugar.
“It is important to hold off sugar from your child’s diet for as long as you can as numerous scientific researches show various behavioural and health benefits
