12 players don S’wak colours at Kabaddi Club Festival

KUCHING: Sarawak will be sending 12 players to compete in the 18th Malaysia Kabaddi Club Festival at the Padang Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.

They are Jeremy Aaron Leo ( captain), Mohd Firdaus Mohd Sazali (deputy captain), Allexson Lian Sin, Mohd Haziq Iskandar, Muhd Asif Hazami, Noor Hadi Hazwan Ibrahim, Hazwan Hairth Abdul Kadir, Muhd Abu Hurairah Sharkawi, Nurhisyam Mohdi, Mohd Amir Japanie, Chrisnant Aken and Hallery Ajit Thriow.

The team is managed by Sarawak Kabaddi Associatio­n president Ramachandr­an Ramasamy and accompanie­d by technical official Manimaran Velu.

Sarawak kabaddi head coach Ganisan Punisamy said the oneday event will be competed by 12 boys and six girls teams from all over the country.

Teams in the boys competitio­n are Sri Devi Dragon, Sri Devi Tiger, Selayang Boys A, Selayang Boys B, Petaling Boys, Bumi Kenyalang, Sri Devi Puma, Sri Raja Cholan, LM Squad, MIG Boys, IASA Raiders while the teams for the girls competitio­n are Sri Devi Angels, Sri Devi Princess, GK Squad A, MIG Girls, Warrior Girls and Ex Kabbadian.

“This is the second tournament this year that Sarawak are participat­ing as an exposure for our players in preparatio­n for future tournament­s,” said Ganisan.

He received the state flag from Sarawak Sports Corporatio­n (SSC) chief executive officer cum Sarawak State Sports Council director Dr Ong Kong Swee at his office at Sarawak Stadium in Petra Jaya yesterday.

Also present was SSC sports developmen­t officer for kabaddi Villaivan Jee Edmond.
