Come to St Joseph’s Cathedral family day celebration tomorrow

-

KUCHING: The St Joseph’s Cathedral parish will be having its family day at the Cathedral compound here from 7.30am until noon tomorrow.

This fund-raising event (formerly known as the Parish Sales & Fair) has been organised annually for the past 13 years.

This year, the objective is to raise RM300,000 in aid of the operations and maintenance fund for the Archdiocesan Curia and Cathedral Pastoral Centre (ACCPC), located adjacent to the cathedral. At the same time, the event seeks to promote fellowship and instil a greater sense of belonging and service in the parish community and Kuching society.

“St Joseph’s Parish is the mother church of the local Roman Catholic community. Since the blessing and opening of the ACCPC on March 19, 2013, a good number of events, activities, musicals and concerts have been held there.

“St Joseph’s Grand Hall, with a seating capacity of 700 and the Mater Domini Auditorium with 200 seating capacity, are available for booking not only for the Church’s lay groups but also for groups outside of the Church,” said the Parish in a statement.

There will be 83 stalls selling a wide variety of food and drinks, comprising local and even Filipino delicacies.

Apart from that, there will be outdoor games like golf putting, blow pipe and other carnival game stalls. There will also be on- going entertainment with live band, cultural performances by Indonesian and Filipino community and Zumba session open to all. Coupons at RM50 per booklet for purchasing the food and drinks will be available for sale on site.
