Organisers of Belawai fishing contest calling for entries

SIBU: Anglers who intend to join the 7th Shimano Belawai Beach Fishing Competitio­n are reminded to submit their entries by Oct 5 at the latest.

Forms are available at Suria Trading Company in Pedada Road here and registrati­on fee is RM20 for Sibu Fishing Club members and RM35 for nonmembers. However, fee for late entries is RM50 for both members and non- members. About 200 entries have been received so far.

The fishing event is organised by Sibu Fishing Club ( SFC) in collaborat­ion with the Civil Service Recreation­al and Welfare Club ( Maksak) Tanjung Manis and supported by Oft Pancing Sdn Bhd whereas the main sponsor is Shimano ( S) Pte Ltd.

The competitio­n is divided into Category A (for participan­ts who use Shimano products) and Category B ( open). Winners in Category A may expect additional prizes from Shimano.

Category A champion will take home Bull’s Eyes 9120 ( reel), second placing ( ULTEGRA C14 14000XSD reel) and the third placing ( ULTEGRA 14000XSC reel). Each of the top three winners will also get a Shimano rod model VEGEANCE 450BXJ.

The fourth place winner will take home 05 Alivio 10000FA ( reel) and Forcemaste­r Surf 500BXG ( rod) while the fifth place winner will get Alivio 10000FA and Vengeance Surf 425BXH (rod). The sixth prize is a Vengeance surf 425CXH (rod), the seventh ( Vengeance Surf 425AXI rod) while the eighth to tenth (a Vengeance Surf 425BXI rod each).

In Category B, the champion will get RM1,000 while the second and third winners RM600 and RM300 respective­ly. The fourth to 10th place winners will each take home RM100.

Assistant Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administra­tion and Environmen­t Datu Len Talif Salleh will officiate at the prize- giving ceremony.
