HDC scoops two the BrandLaureate World Halal Bestbrands Awards 2018

KUALALUMPUR: HalalIndustry Development Corporation ( HDC), an agency under the Ministry of Economic Affairs has received The BrandLaureate World Halal Strategic Business Partner Award 2018 and its chief executive / managing director, Dato’ Seri Jamil Bidin being awarded The BrandLaureate World Halal Lifetime Achievement Brand Leadership of the Year Award 2018 during the BrandLaureate World Halal BestBrands Award 2018.

The BrandLaureate World Halal Strategic Business Partner Award 2018 acknowledges HDC has played a pivotal role in developing the Halal industry through its strategies and initiatives.

At the same time, HDC has also contributed to the overall growth of Halal industry and set benchmarks and standards of excellence at the international arena. HDC’s relentless efforts in developing the industry started in 2006 when its was established.

It then embarked on the Halal Industry Development Master Plan ( HIMP) 2008-2020, aiming to drive Halal as a new source of economic growth.

Datuk Seri Jamil Bidin bagged The BrandLaureate World Halal Lifetime Achievement Brand Leadership of the Year Award 2018 for his vision, dedication and commitment towards helming the development of Malaysia’s Halal industry.Through the dynamic leadership and deep insight, Malaysia has been recognised as a global leader in Halal. Jamil Bidin attributed the continuous government involvement in positioning Malaysia as the global leader for the halal industry.

Jamil said, “The award demonstrates a strong recognition to the government of Malaysia for driving Halal industry to the global arena. The government has built a comprehensive ecosystem for our halal industry which has been one of our advantages at present”.

For the past five years, the halal industry has contributed about five to six per cent yearly to the country’s total export and this encouraging trend will continue or even increase with strong support from the government.
