Reconstruction works on Menjawah-Belaga road to begin soon – Abang Johari
BELAGA: Reconstruction works on the 34-km Menjawah-Belaga road will begin next month.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said the work will commence after Belaga Regatta 2018 from Sept 27 till 30.
In the meantime, repair works are being carried out on the damaged portions of the road.
“I hope the project would be implemented smoothly on schedule and once completed the locals using the road will not face difficulty anymore,” said Abang Johari when officiating at the opening of Belaga Regatta 2018 at the Town Square yesterday.
His text of speech was read by Assistant Minister of Law, StateFederal Relations and Project Monitoring Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.
According to Abang Johari, he had visited Belaga twice this year to find ways to solve the issues faced by the locals.
“The first visit was to see how to rehabilitate the 34km Menjawah-Belaga road constructed under the Jiwa Murni. The RM86 million allocation has been approved for this purpose.
“I was informed that the Letter of Award for the project has been issued on August 27, 2018,” he said.
Abang Johari said the pre-construction meeting was held on Sept 19, while the contractor has brought in the machinery and started to repair the damaged sections of the road before the actual reconstruction began.
His second visit was to find ways to solve the treated water supply issue for the people at Sg Asap resettlement.
“The new RM65 million Sg Koyan water plant in Sg Asap resettlement has been completed and additional allocation has also been approved to directly connect the water supply to each household,” said Abang Johari.
He hoped with this initiative, the people will be able to enjoy a more comfortable life with the efficient treated water supply.
