Group to hold second diabetes conference next year
MIRI: Following the success of the first Borneo diabetes conference, Diabetes Malaysia Miri branch is preparing for the second conference to be held here July 5-7 next year.
Its scientific research committee chairman Dr Fam Tem Lom said the conference would strive at disseminating information useful to diabetic patients and their families for it’s crucial that diabetics take good care of their physical and emotional health.
“We recognise this importance, and therefore we want to encourage more diabetics as well as medical practitioners to join us,” he said.
Though tentative programmes have been drawn up, adjustment would be made along the way before being finalised, he said during a dinner with his committee members last Thursday.
He also said a logo design competition would be held, open to Malaysians 12 years old and above. The logo must include ‘Borneo Diabetes Conference’wording, and symbol/ picture representing Sarawak/ Miri in the logo. The winner will receive RM200.
The competition is open from now until Dec 31.
Participants must produce their artwork on A3 or A4 paper, along with their details such as full name, identification number, contact number and email address to borneodiabetesconference@ gmail.com .
The prize presentation will be held during the opening ceremony of second Borneo Diabetes Conference.
