SMK Chung Hua Miri to represent Malaysia at World Robot Olympiad

MIRI: SMK Chung Hua Miri will represent Malaysia at the World Robot Olympiad 2018 to be held in Chiang Mai, Thailand next month.

The school was given the honour after it emerged champion in the National Robotic Competitio­n (NRC) 2018 final round held from Sept 11-13 in Pahang.

Yesterday, representa­tives of SMK Chung Hua paid a courtesy call on Assistant Minister of Tourism, Art and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin to thank him for his sponsorshi­p and continuous support.

“I am very happy and proud to know that our very own SMK Chung Hua students are champions at the national level.

“In fact I was informed that the school sent four teams to compete at the national level.

“Two teams won gold, one won silver and the other one bronze in their respective categories,” he said.

SMK Chung Hua Miri won gold in the Upper Secondary Category through its team represente­d by Seau Yin Han, Alton Loke Wai Kin and Chong Yuan.

The Gen2 Category team comprising Jaxon Moh, Voon Yi Yan and Jonathan Ho Kok Hong won another gold, while the team represente­d by Donald Augustine Tan, Kuan Xian Hao and Jonathan Voon Yen Jie won silver.

Another SMK Chung Hua team comprising Yong Vin Cent, Chai Hong Jie and Fong Fwu Chrng meanwhile won bronze in the Lower Secondary Category.

Lee said he would continue to support the school for the forthcomin­g World Robot Olympiad 2018 in Thailand.
