UCTS to hold third convocation on Oct 4

SIBU: University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) will hold its 3rd Convocation Ceremony on Oct 4 at Kingwood Hotel here from 8.30am until 12.30pm.

According to its vice chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Khairuddin Abdul Hamid, Head of State who is also UCTS chancellor Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud has been invited as guest of honour.

“Our chairman Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh will also be present. We are expecting more than 1,000 guests at this event including parents, those from local universities in Sarawak and West Malaysia,” he said.

Wong who is also Minister of International Trade and ECommerce and Second Finance Minister also said that there will be an alumni night and convocation dinner at the same venue at 7.30pm.

Meanwhile, deputy vicechancellor (academic) Professor Dato Dr Sabarudin Mohd said 262 students will receive their scrolls during the convocation.

Out of the number, 16 are from the School of Computing and Creative Media and the School of Postgraduate studies will have its first convocation too.

“Seven will be graduating with Bachelor in Computer Science (Hons) in Network Computing, five with Bachelor in Computer Science (Hons) in Software Engineering and four with Masters in Business Administration,” he said.
