Annual Ora Et Labora Run to be held on Dec 8

-

KUCHING: The Old Josephians’ Association (OJA) Kuching will be holding its second annual Ora Et Labora Run this Dec 8.

Like the previous year, the run will start at SMK St. Joseph, Kuching at 6am. For this year’s edition, OJA is expecting at least 2,000 runners comprising current students, alumni and members of the public.

Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian who is also OJA president said the main objective of the run is to raise funds for students’ extra-curricular activities.

Apart from that, it also serves as a reunion for ex-students and a chance for them to offer their services to their alma mater.

“We have many talented students in the school. This year, we came to know that the school lacked funds to send our robotics team which emerged as state champion in a competition to the National Robotics Competition in Kuala Lumpur.

“As such the main objective of this year’s run is to raise funds for the St Joseph’s Family of School extra-curricular activities in 2019,” he said.

Dr Sim added that apart from organising the run, OJA hopes to make the event an annual event where alumni can visit the school every year.

This year he encouraged alumni from different batches to make their own banner indicating “Class of Graduation Year” for display in the run group photo.

The run is divided into 5km Fun Run and 10km Competitive Run with two categories: Open Category (Men and Women) for the public and to make it more interesting, the Josephians’ Category for existing students, and graduates.

The registration fee per person is RM45 for the 5km Fun Run and RM55 for the 10km Competitive Run which includes a compression shirt by 2XU Malaysia and a running bib.

Entry forms can be obtained at Revolution Run Borneo – Green Heights, or through online registration at www. malaysiarunner.com.

Participants who finish the run will receive finisher medals by Medal Depot and for the 10km Competitive Run, the top 5 finishers will receive additional cash prizes.

Dr Sim added that the run will be organised next year together with a charity sale to inculcate the Lasallian values to help the last, lost and least.
