RAM ranks Sarawak, four states as robust

RAM Ratings views the implicit strength of five Malaysian states – including Sarawak – as robust, while placing two states each in the very strong and strong categories and ranking the remaining four states as adequate. This is given wide di f ferences between the states, ranging from their economic structures to financial management as well as institutio­nal strengths and capacities.

Indonesia’s moratorium to be big blow for late entrants to plantation­s

Indonesia’s moratorium on plantat ion permi t s will be negative to those who are late entrants in the country’s plantation industry. According to a Reuters article, Indonesia’s gove r nment is sue d a presidenti­al instructio­n to place a moratorium on new permits for palm plantation­s for three years, as part of efforts to protect forests, a presidenti­al official said on Friday.
