KUCHING: The Social Development Council ( MPS) has launched its official social media pages on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter together with its official WhatsApp and e-mail contacts.

According to Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, the main objective for establishing the social media pages is to provide digital forums for sharing information, policies, programmes and activities concerning social issues of the communities in Sarawak.

Another objective is to also create borderless platforms to publicise development programmes and social interventions and activities organised and run by MPS and other relevant agencies, she adds.

“This will facilitate communications without the limitation of time and boundaries between the communities and (for) MPS to get their input and commitment to contribute to addressing social issues in Sarawak,” she said during a press conference on the launch of the official social media platforms at Wisma Wanita here yesterday.

According to MPS executive secretary Dr Zufar Yadi Brendan Abdullah, the council can be contacted via Facebook (search ‘ Social Development Council’), Instagram (@ mpss_ kwkpk, https://www. instragram.com/ mpss_ kwkpk), and Twitter (@ mpss_ kwkpk, https://twitter. com/mpss_ kwkpk).

“Under the # careforsarawak, people can make a pledge involving 10 things to help address social issues in Sarawak, contributing to social wellbeing in Sarawak, reporting and avoiding crimes of property, and staying away from and providing relevant information on drug and substance abuse. Whereas for email, people can give and share input via mpssarawak@ gmail. com,” said Zufar.

Assistant Minister of Community Wellbeing Datuk Francis Harden Hollis was also present at the press conference.
