Milo’s Activ Jam Senam Aerobik targets school-goers

-

PUTRAJAYA: Milo, in partnership with the Education Ministry, has launched ‘Activ Jam Senam Aerobik’, the first nationallevel contest as another platform for school-goers to stay active and lead a healthy lifestyle.

The latest in Milo’s long line of school-based sports programmes, Activ Jam Senam Aerobik is the culmination of a strategic collaboration with the Education Ministry under the ‘1Murid 1Sukan’ (1Student 1Sport) initiative through a series of sports-related activities involving both students and teachers since 2013.

It will see 10 primary schools and 16 muhibbah (open) teams compete for the respective national championship titles.

The winner of each category will receive RM5,000 worth of sports equipment and the honour of becoming the first national ‘senam aerobik’ champion.

“This initiative will reinvigorate the partnership that we established with the Ministry of Education Malaysia over 40 years ago. As a champion of grassroots sports development, we are committed to supporting the Ministry of Education Malaysia in their continuous drive to promote healthy lifestyle and cultivate a culture of sporting excellence among students,” said Milo sports marketing manager Ng Ping Loong.

1Murid 1Sukan was first introduced by the Education Ministry in 2011 under its sports development programme in schools that requires every student to take part in at least one sport.

“The ministry welcomes and commends public-private partnerships working towards a common goal of supporting the 1Student 1Sport policy such as the one exemplified by Milo. Building upon the National Sports Policy that outlines sports as an endeavor for all, 1Student 1Sport emphasises the participation of every student in sports as part of the educational reform undertaken by the ministry to inculcate good values in students on top of the physical health benefits achieved through sports,” Education Ministry sports division director Dr Mehander Singh Nahar Singh remarked.

In the lead up to Activ Jam Senam Aerobik, the joint Education Ministry-Milo 1Student 1Sport initiative has paved the way for a strengthened sports education programme in schools as marked by these significant milestones.

Under the 1Murid 1Sukan coaching workshop, more than 4,500 teachers have been trained to organise sporting activities for their students since the workshops were introduced as part of the initiative in 2015.

In a bid to encourage physical activity among students, the on- ground activation in schools via the iconic Milo van, now upgraded with sporting equipment, is paired with 20 minutes of senam aerobik.

Launched early this year, Milo Aktif Negaraku is an extension of Milo’s commitment to nationbuilding through grassroots sports that comprises all-time Milo sports programme favorites such as Milo Hidup Bola and Milo Champions Clinic.

Submissions for the Activ Jam Senam Aerobik contest close on Sept 30. To learn more about Activ Jam Senam Aerobik, members of the public can visit www.milo.com. my/activ-jam.
