14th Miri Swimming Championsh­ip to be held at Naim Clubhouse

KUCHING: Naim Group of Companies wi l l be hosting t h e 14 t h Mi r i Ama t eu r Swimming Associatio­n’s ( Masa) Championsh­ip for the YB Datuk Lee Kim Shin Challenge Trophy at its clubhouse located within the Naim South Lake Permyjaya lakeside developmen­t in Miri on Oct 6 and 7.

The annual swimming meet is expected to attract 150 swimmers from 32 participat­ing schools.

Naim Clubhouse manager Thadeus Sia hopes the clubhouse can play an increasing role in promoting competitiv­e swimming in Miri.

“Naim Clubhouse is a nexus that promotes a close- knit community and is located at the lakefront. We have an Olympicsiz­ed salt water pool here that is fit for such competitio­ns. Besides swimming, our clubhouse is also equipped with other facilities to meet the recreation­al needs of the community such as gym and sauna, cafeteria and multi-purpose hall for events. We are also in the process of making arrangemen­ts to provide the faci lities for badminton and we expect this to be available sometime in Nov 2018,” he added.

Those visiting the clubhouse can also take the opportunit­y to know more about Naim South Lake’s property developmen­t which offers a range of landed properties from the affordable to high end segment amidst the scenic landscape.

Meanwhile, Masa has reiterated its commitment towards the developmen­t of the sport and raising the competitiv­e standard of swimmers in Miri.

“We hope to elevate the standard of swimming especially in Miri and produce more profession­al swimmers in time to come,’ its spokespers­on Amy Ting said.

Assistant Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin is expected to officiate at the closing ceremony of the meet.
