According to the facts of the case, the incident happened on Sept 25 at 3.15pm when the accused attacked his mother at their house in Tiong Hua Road by hitting her face, strangling her and kicking her on the back.

The motive for the assault was due to his mother scolding his younger brother.

The accused failed to pay the fine. In another magistrate’s court here yesterday, a man was ordered to be jailed and fined after he pleaded guilty to trespassing and failing to provide his identity card to police.

For the trespassing charge, Magistrate Saiful Sayoti sentenced Albert Wong Mee Leong, 34, to two months’ imprisonment and, for the second charge, fined him RM2,500 in default five months’ jail. Wong failed to settle the fine. The accused was charged under Section 447 of the Penal Code for trespassing, which provides for a maximum jail term of six months or a fine which may extend to RM3,000, or both.

He was also charged under Regulation 25(1)(n) of the National Registration Regulations 1990 for failing to produce his identity card, which carries a maximum three years’ imprisonment or fine not exceeding RM20,000, or both.

According to facts of the case, the incident happened at Makmur Lane on May 30 this year when the 54-yearold complainant was informed by her son that the accused was sleeping in their house compound.

Police arrived at the house after being notified and arrested the accused, while also seizing a motorcycle, knife, scissors and screwdriver from him.

During the arrest, the accused failed to produce any valid identification document.
