KUCHING: Following up on its successful 33rd anniversary campaign in April, Sharp Electronics ( Malaysia) Sdn Bhd ( SEM) launched the Sharp My AQUOS campaign, bringing in more good news and offers to Malaysian consumers yesterday.

In a press statement, SEM said the My AQUOS campaign highlights Sharp’s Made-inMalaysia products, particularly its line-up of the popular AQUOS LED TVs manufactured by Sharp Manufacturing Corporation ( M) Sdn Bhd at its Batu Pahat factory in Johor.

Also being highlighted are the audio products produced at Sharp’s base in Sungai Petani, Kedah by S& O Electronics ( M) Sdn Bhd.

With the nation celebrating Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day, the campaign was designed not only to reward Malaysian consumers but also as a celebration of Malaysianness to enhance Sharp brand’s affinity with the country.

“Although we are a Japanese brand, we have a long and successful history in Malaysia since 1974. The continuous loyalty and strong support from Malaysians makes us feel like we are almost a local company, a home- grown Malaysian brand that promotes Made-in-Malaysia products to the world,” said Sharp Electronics ( Malaysia) Sdn Bhd managing director Robert Wu.

The My AQUOS campaign will run from Sept 1 to Dec 31, 2018.

Throughout the campaign period, Sharp will maintain their price for Made-in-Malaysia products.

For instance, Sharp AQUOS 40” LED TV ( LC40SA5100M) will still be available to consumers at its pre- SST offer price of RM999.

Sharp also announced that it will contribute RM5 from the sales of each Made-in-Malaysia product during this campaign to Tabung Harapan.

In the event that the government decides to conclude Tabung Harapan before Dec 31, Sharp has pledged to contribute the amount collected to charitable organisations as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

“Merdeka and Malaysia Day are significant celebrations for Malaysia and for us at Sharp Malaysia. We truly feel we are part of these joyous occasions. It is also timely for us to recognise the support of Malaysians to Sharp all this while through this contribution,” said Wu.

As part of its effort to further enhance its branding exposure in Malaysia, Sharp also unveiled up- and- coming actress Zahirah Macwilson as its celebrity Brand Ambassador.

Zahirah’s celebrity touches will further augment Sharp AQUOS not only as a technologically advanced but also as an attractive, fashionable and trendy brand, ideal for the discerning and young Malaysian consumers.
