Donors come together to help family of five in Beratok with solar panel

-

KUCHING: A family of five in Beratok who could not afford to pay for their electricity bills recently received a solar panel and lights from LONGi ( Kuching) Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with a few private donors.

According to Hope Place Kuching founder Kelvin Wan, the donors also contributed basic food aid to Jean Lio’s family.

It is learnt that Jean was diagnosed with cancer and had a stroke in 2016.

“I am truly thankful to everyone out there who helped my family. My family never had so many blessings before in our lives” she said, adding that her husband is a contract welder who would only get paid once the job is done.

The couple has three children – all of whom are still in school.

It is learnt that Jean’s second child – now in Primary 5 – is a slow learner, and is categorised as an individual with special needs (OKU).
