IKM Bintulu trainees put skills to good use to aid SK Tatau

-

BINTULU: Eighteen trainees from Mara Skills Institute ( IKM) here came together to carry out a corporate social responsibility (CSR) project at SK Tatau recently.

Programme coordinator Melvin Sean Joseph, who is a lecturer at IKM Bintulu, said trainees had carried out many CSR activities in the division based on the needs and requests from schools or nongovernmental organisations.

“For SK Tatau, our CSR programme focused on welding works to repair chairs, tables, goalposts, fencing and other items.

“We brought along our Semester 3 students under the welding certificate programme, and hope that through this activity, we could assist the school and at the same time, give exposure to our trainees in terms of hands- on experience,” he told The Borneo Post yesterday.

SK Tatau headmaster Janudin Ab Rahman, meanwhile, thanked IKM Bintulu for responding to the school’s assistance.

“This CSR activity means a lot to us as it can save our school’s parent-teacher association expenses,” he said.

Janudin hoped for more such collaboration with IKM Bintulu, adding that he had already put in a request for more assistance to upgrade other facilities at the school.

Also present at the event was Tatau Education assistant officer Muhd Nur Abdullah. request for
