Henry Golding crazy about watches for the well-heeled

You know, I was a hair stylist before . . . I used to be back there.

NEW YORK: Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding who is of British-Iban parentage, is crazy about watches for the wellheeled.

This was apparent during a shopping spree in Manhattan’s Diamond District.

During the excursion, he had to reluctantly walk away from a wall of Patek Philippes. He would have to do the press tours in his existing collection of watches — which is, to be clear, far from shabby.

Over the years he’s collected a half dozen horological gems, from a vintage Omega Seamaster DeVille (which he wore in the blockbuster movie) to a Tudor Black Bay (which his wife gave him when they got married).

When it comes to fashion, Golding is right there among those who are quite knowledgeable.

It’s a far cry from his childhood days in Betong.

During an after-party to mark a fashion event in New York, Golding said: “You know, I was a

hair stylist before . . . I used to be back there,” he said, gesturing to the backstage door, where the models were just beginning to emerge.

In a major US interview, Jimmy Fallon suggested that Golding should be the next James Bond, assuring the actor: “I’m telling you, this is first. James Bond is next!” as the crowd went wild.

Golding himself previously told Esquire Magazine that he “would love to be in a Bond movie”. Asked if he could ever be a contender for any high-profile action movies in the future, Golding told a British newsman: “Absolutely. I know a little bit of fisticuffs… “

Noticing the looks of disapproval around him, Golding added: “They don’t say that any more? I could use the old white glove (mimes slapping someone in the face with a glove) Oh, touche ( laughs). No, I used to do a little bit of Muay Thai as a kid, a bit of boxing…”
