CADS to sign MoU with PSDC to build AI platform

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Locallybased Center of Applied Data Science (CADS) is working on a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Penang Skills Development Centre ( PSDC) to build the first Artificial Intelligence ( AI) Workforce Analytics platform in the northern region.

Artificial intelligence, sometimes called machine intelligence, is intelligence demonstrated by machines, in contrast to the natural intelligence displayed by humans.

“Given that the global artificial intelligence market will reach US$32 billion by 2024, it is essential for Malaysia to be AI ready as it is not just a skill, but also a job description,” said CADS Founder Sharala Axryd in a statement yesterday.

In tandem with the AI Talent Framework, which would form the guideline for CADS and focus on designing future-ready AI talent, various opportunities were being developed for Malaysian talent to grow in the industry.

“Another MoU is being finalised with a leading AI venture company in Japan to host selected talent from Malaysia in Tokyo for advanced AI industry placement with the possibility of absorption,” she added.

Meanwhile, PSDC chief executive officer Muhammad Ali Hajah Mydin said Penang had made great progress in becoming an economic powerhouse in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

“However, organisations need to be digitally ready to keep up with the pace of growth.

“Through this initiative, we not only hope to develop and nurture the culture of embracing data driven solutions but also lead the way in moulding industry ready talents,” he said. — Bernama
