‘IOT in agriculture can boost sector’

KUCHING: The application of smart technologies such as Internet of Things ( IOT) in agriculture can boost the sector in Sarawak.

Deputy State Secretary Datu Dr Sabariah Putit said this was in line with the effort made by the Sarawak government to develop a digital technology-based agriculture sector.

She said the use of technology would provide more opportunities and platforms for farmers to advance and increase productivity.

“I understand that one fifth of Sarawak’s land may not be suitable for farming but this problem can be solved by the use of technology.

“Infertile land is no longer an issue in the agricultural sector because in developed countries like Australia, for example, they can plant any kind of crop with the use of technology,” she said
