KUCHING: Autistics and their families from the Kuching Autistic Association ( KAA) celebrated Mid-Autumn festival with various activities last weekend courtesy of the Leo Club of UCSI University here.

A group of 25 members from the Leo Club of UCSI University together with five members of Lions Club of Kuching Centennial, held a ‘Funtastic Mid-Autumn Get Together Nite’ at the Kuching Autistic Association Centre.

The evening’s programme kicked off with a Snow Skin Mooncake DIY session at the centre’s kitchen for the autistic children, accompanied by their parents. They showed strong enthusiasm in learning how to make snow skin mooncakes under colourful and vibrant lanterns hanging all over the centre. Families and friends of the autistic children concluded the beautiful night with a potluck session and lantern playing around the KAA compound.

Joining in the fun activities was Leo Club UCSI University’s president Joelynia Chang who guided her members through the preparations and donations for the visit.

Chang said the event aimed at bringing the autistic children and the parents together as a community especially in a warmfilled festive atmosphere.

“It is especially touching to see the immeasurable patience and unconditional love of the parents for their children.

“With the success of this memorable and meaningful activity, the Leos are now even more motivated to achieve greater heights in future projects,” she said.
