Intercultu­ral Mooncake Festival competitio­ns winners receive prizes

KUCHING: Organisers of the 17th Kuching Intercultu­ral Mooncake Festival recently announced the winners of the lantern making and colouring competitio­ns held in conjunctio­n with the festival.

The lantern making competitio­n was won by Liew Thai Chang who received a cash prize of RM800 followed by Bong Yi Qiang in second place ( RM600) and Ho Wei Jing in third place ( RM400).

According to the organisers, more than 20 lanterns were submitted for the competitio­n that was held throughout the festival.

The lanterns are on display at Plaza Merdeka here for public viewing.

Meanwhile, the colouring contest in the Group A (7 to 9 years old) category was won by Yuki Cheong Ke Xin who received a cash prize of RM200.

In second place is Phua Yee Sian ( RM150) while in third place is Nur Lzzafira Qarin Iswandy ( RM100).

In the Group B (10 to 12 years old), the winner is Sia Zhi Huai ( RM300) followed by Chew Boon Choi in second place winning RM200 and Mok Siaw Sen in third place ( RM100).

There were more than 70 participan­ts in the colouring contest that was held for two days ( Sept 21 and 22) at Plaza Merdeka.

“The festival is over and the organising committee is happy that many Sarawakian­s of different ethnic origins have joined in the celebratio­n of Unity in Diversity in the City of Unity,” said the organising co- chairman Sim Kiang Chiok.
