Tee Off Club, King Labang in SCC final showdown

-

KUCHING: Tee Off Club has a score to settle when they meet King Labang in the final of the Samarahan Country Club (SCC) Inter-Team Match Play Quality Concrete Challenge Trophy at SCC tomorrow.

They will be looking to avenge their 1- 4 defeat to King Labang in the semi- finals on Sept 22 as well as their second win in this tournament after they won in 2013 and were second in 2015.

“Yes, the players are all fired up and we are all set to give King Labang a good fight in the final,” vowed Tee Off Club captain Lester Simbas.

“Every one has been working and practising hard and we are well prepared. We will be fielding a full and strong team on Saturday.

“I do believe the best team will win and I wish all the players and both teams the best of luck,” said Lester who is confident that his team’s chance of winning is strong.

His team would want to lift the trophy again just like every other year they go into the team match play tournament with the goal of winning the champion title.

Meanwhi le, King Labang captain Jacque Chian said his team would not be taking their opponents lightly although they have beaten them earlier in the tournament.

“That result (4-1) will not prove anything or that we are the better team because they were not playing with a full team on that day.

“However, we do have the confidence of winning but I would say the chance of winning is also 50- 50 and I believe the team that plays better on the day will win.

“We have been practising very hard and we will do our best. The team is in high spirit and confident mood and I think we can do it,” added Chian.

He hoped that the change of the team’s name from Black Laban to King Labang will bring the team luck and success.

“We have been playing as Black Laban for three years and we were always knocked out in the first or second round.

“But as King Labang, our passage to the final this year has been quite smooth and the players are really inspired and motivated to win this year,” said Chian.

Saturday will also see the organising of the QC Invitation Golf competition.
