Ten capital market regulators to convene at second Asean Capital Market Conference in Singapore

-

KUCHING: Capital market regulators from ten Asean jurisdictions, collectively known as the Asean Capital Markets Forum (ACMF), will convene together with leading industry experts in Singapore for the 2nd Asean Capital Market Conference on October 11, 2018.

The Asean Capital Market Conference is a platform for capital market regulators to exchange ideas and share insights with industry specialists on strategic issues central to the ACMF’s regional integration agenda for building an interconnected, inclusive and resilient Asean capital market.

It was first organised in Kuala Lumpur last year where the Asean regulators launched the Asean Green Bond Standards, which have gained encouraging traction.

Despite shifting market dynamics, Asean’s growth potential remains significant and is expected to grow to US$3.5 to 4 trillion in assets under management (AUM) by 2025.

Recognising this potential, the conference will discuss key areas to unlock and capture new growth opportunities, focusing especially on the development of sustainable asset classes and improving connectivity amongst Asean capital markets.

Themed “Sustainability and Connectivity”, this year’s Asean Capital Market Conference, hosted by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), will feature panel discussions deliberating on topics ranging from sustainable financing, Asean connectivity initiat ives, infrastructure financing, venture capital investments and SME financing.

Panellists comprise capital market regulators from Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, alongside leading Asean market analysts, institutional investors, asset owners, fund managers, and other stakeholders in the financial industry.

The keynote address will be delivered by Tan Sri Ranjit Ajit Singh, chairman of the Asean Capital Markets Forum, who is also the chairman of Securities Commission Malaysia.
