DAP to hold forum on SST at Catholic High School

SIBU: The Democratic Action Party ( DAP) together with Brilliant Inspiratio­n Academy ( BIA) from Kuching will hold a SST Forum at Catholic High School here, on Oct 13 from 7 till 9.30pm.

The main speaker is Noelle Lily Morse, a Senior Assistant Director from the SST Division of the Customs Department in Kuching.

She will give some practical guidance and highlights on topics such as registrati­on, managing the transition from SST to GST and other transition­al matters, taxable/ non-taxable transactio­ns, exemptions, including ways to apply for such exemptions or other benefits, charging SST and declaring and paying SST.

Another speaker Alex Tong, a chartered accountant from Philip Tong and Co, shall give an insight on documentat­ion of transactio­n, accounting for the new tax, administra­tion of sales and IT system to be updated.

The other speaker is an officer from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs who will talk about consumer rights relating to service and sales of goods in the market which are subject to SST.

There will be a Q& A session at the end of the forum, when all questions, issues and complaints raised would be considered by the speakers and would be brought to the attention of the Customs Department and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs.
