Latest mobile app for food services ‘GetFood’, launched at Vivacity

-

KUCHING: GetFood, the latest mobile application for food services, was officially launched by Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian at Vivacity Megamall yesterday.

With much improved feature for the app, GetFood had also rolled out their new dine-in, ordering feature at the official launch.

The new GetFood ’ Dine-in’ ordering feature allows users to easily browse through a merchant partner’s menu simply by scanning a QR Code at their table, order their food and select their preferred choice of payment method, all through one app for a seamless dining experience.

” We have been working with merchants ( partnering cafés and restaurants) to understand what would help to digitalise their businesses so they can focus on what matters the most producing amazing food. Our mission is not only to bring convenience to users but also to provide the best food ordering and delivery experience,” said GetFood chief executive officer and co-founder Joe Koh at the launching.

The mobile application is developed by WAHH Innovations, a technology company based in and under the mentoring of iCube Innovation. With a passion for food and an aim to connect customers with food varieties, availability and accessibility, the startup company has created a holistic app to transform the food and beverage industry.

After its soft launch in June, GetFood has partnered with more than 100 cafés and restaurants. With a minimum RM2 delivery charge, GetFood promises delivery within half an hour.

“Currently, GetFood already has a few thousand active users in Kuching. We will reach out to more cities in Sarawak very soon and we welcome more restaurants to join us on board to connect the food they serve with the people in the cities. Our goal is to become the one app people think about whenever they think about food,” said Koh.

Meanwhile, Dr Sim praised the creation of the app and the creator’s aim to make it ‘glocal’ (global and local) and to expand internationally, but starting in Kuching.

He said the spirit of being able to do something and trying going overseas and look beyond Sarawak is commendable.

“We are very proud to have this app start in Kuching. Everyone wants fast, cashless and no need to wait for change. This startup plays important component in making things convenient,” he said.

As part of the grand launch, GetFood is offering free delivery with no minimum order amount. Simply enter the promo code ‘VIVALAUNCH’ at the checkout page. To celebrate the occasion, GetFood will also be at Vivacity Megamall (ground floor) tomorrow, giving out free meal cash vouchers from various restaurants to all new users at their launching road show.

The application is now available for download on Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store.
