SIBU: University College of Technology Sarawak ( UCTS) Alumni will maintain a positive relationship with their alma mater and speak well of the university.

The newly appointed UCTS Alumni president, Kelly Usit, said they would keep in touch with the university and keep tabs on its achievements.

“We can be the loyal life-long supporters of this institution. Our support may also help UCTS to achieve positions of success and influence, which in turn, will benefit us as the former students,” she said at the UCTS Graduation Night in Tanahmas Hotel here recently.

She said a united alumni group could create new partnerships for the university, like partnership between the university and its employers, the government and nongovernmental organisations.

“Alumni can be helpful to the students, like giving career guidance, mentoring, job placements, internships and so on,” she added.

Meanwhile, UCTS vice chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Khairuddin Abdul Hamid said UCTS could grow because of the support from the people, particularly the board members.

The graduation night included stage performances by students and staff, a presentation of Industry Excellence Award and Book Award.

Former vice chancellor Professor Dato Dr Abdul Hakim Juri was also present at the function.
