SMK Methodist team triumphs in Innovation Championsh­ip 2018

SIBU: SMK Methodist emerged winner of the team event at the district-level Innovation Championsh­ip 2018, which concluded at the University College of Technology Sarawak ( UCTS) here yesterday.

The school’s representa­tives Kenson Joseph and Yew Ko Woo impressed the judges with their entry called ‘Colour Magic Wheel’.

SMK Sacred Heart took both second and third place, with their respective entries ‘Partner Exchange’ and ‘Jadual F4’.

The ‘Partner Exchange’ was the work of Goh Leh Ling, Dia Teck Ing, Chong Sze Yuen and Wong Nyiik Yien, while the ‘Jadual F4’ was created by Lu Lee Eng, Victoria Sim, Mary Toh and Chen Yuet Min.

In the individual pre- school and primary school category, Ling Siew Ching of SJKC Chung Cheng won through her entry ‘ My Fun Learning Mathematic Board’.

Mohamad Syamsul Izwan Fauzi of SK Kampung Banyok grabbed second place with his entry ‘ Simple Handling of Constructi­on of Essays’, while Liong Siew Fei of SJKC Chao Su placed third with the entry ‘Set Fonik’.

In the secondary school category, Muhamad Kamarul Azman Sulaiman of SMK Rosli Dhoby was declared the winner, with Hii Ming Toh of SMK Luar Bandar No 1 Sibu and Ling Ngiik Mink of SMK Sacred Heart as respective first and second runner-up.

Sarawak Education Department’s Evaluation and Examinatio­n Sector head Yunus Apok gave away the prizes.

UCTS deputy vice- chancellor Prof Dato Sabarudin Mohamad and SMK Sacred Heart principal David Teo were also present.

The competitio­n was hosted by SMK Sacred Heart, in collaborat­ion with the UCTS and Education Department of Sibu.
