Fajar sponsors Miri Special Needs Community Family Day

MIRI: Fajar Internatio­nal College is giving sponsorshi­p of RM3,500 to the upcoming Miri Special Needs Community Family Day and sending 45 volunteer students to support the event.

The family day to be held at Sunflower Centre, Jalan Bulan Sabit here from 9am to 2pm on Oct 13 is organised by Malaysian Care, a non- profit Christian NGO in Malaysia for children with special needs and their families.

There will be station games, food, exhibition booths and sale of items from various organisati­ons which provide service to people with special needs

Some 12 0 - 15 0 adult s and children under 12 years of age are expected at the event which aims to build acceptance, inclusion and connection within the special needs community besides promoting interactio­n, sharing of informatio­n ideas and experience between parents, teachers, profession­als to create awareness of resources available within the community.

Malaysian Care has been committed to serve the poor and needy irrespecti­ve of religion and ethnicity, including the special needs community since 1979.

It focuses on empowering the poor and needy through long term developmen­t especially those affected by crime and substance abuse, people with special needs and the rural and urban poor. Malaysian Care also does advocacy as a vital component to bring positive change to problems faced by the groups it works with.
