Launch of Mandarin and Iban version of ‘childcare at home’ guideline book today

KUCHING: A guideline book on childcare at home in Mandarin and Iban will be launched by the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud in conjunctio­n with the 12th Preschool education convention today.

Minister Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Developmen­t Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said the book would be useful to even young mothers tending to their children at home.

“Also, more than 80 per cent of parents in Sarawak want their children to be taken care at the for homes of family members and child minders.

“Therefore, my ministry has initiated to produce the guideline book in Mandarin and Iban translated from the original Bahasa Melayu version,” she said during a press conference on the holding of the 12th Preschool education convention here yesterday.

On the convention, Fatimah said 450 participan­ts would be taking part in the three- day convention until Sunday at Pullman Hotel here.

Three working papers centred around ICT in teaching and studying in terms of preschool education, the usage of technology and ICT addiction would be presented.

Duirng the launch on Oct 6 ( today), winners of the Benchmarki­ng competitio­n will be announced and the one getting first spot will receive RM6,000, second ( RM5,000) and third ( RM4,000).

Eleven pre- school institutio­ns from all over Sarawak were shortliste­d for the benchmarki­ng candidacy since selection started on July 25.

Accompanyi­ng Fatimah yesterday was Assistant Minister of Woman, Family and Childhood Developmen­t Rosey Yunus.
