Siew Keen, Hock Xiang winners of school’s Co-curriculum Exemplary Award
SARIKEI: Wong Siew Keen of Form 4A5 and Lee Hock Xiang of Form 2C have been named the respective winners of SMK St Anthony’s Girl’s and Boy’s Cocurriculum Exemplary Award.
Wong earned the top award for helping Sarawak’s under 18 volleyball team won gold medal in MSSM 2018, and Sarawak’s under 20 volleyball team to emerge champion in the national level competition.
She is also a member of the school’s netball team and helped the school to bag silver and bronze medals in Javelin and 400M events in the Divisional-level School Sports Council Athletics meet this year.
Lee, meanwhile, won gold medal in Poomsae individual and team events; silver in Poomsae ( Pair) in 2018 global Chinese Taekwando open championship held in Jinjang, China recently.
He also won gold medal in Poomsae individual, team and pair) in 2018 National-level Selfdefence Taekwando Championship held in Kuching recently.
During the 32nd National youth Self Defence Arts Taekwando and 29th Penang Invitational championship, he bagged gold medal in Poomsae individual event and silver medal in team event while in this year’s Sarawak inter school championship, he won gold medal in Poomsae (individual) and silver in Poomsae ( pair).
He was also named the Most Valuable Player ( Best Setter) in Sarawak’s Under 14 volleyball team, which emerged champion in the national-level Under 14 Boys’ volleyball championship held in Selangor earlier this year.
A total of 204 students received various awards during the event officiated at by Sarikei District Education officer Radin Fozi Radin Abul Rahim. The school principal Vincent Liong and parent-teacher association chairperson Maureen Chua were among those present at the event.
