39 exponents for national junior taekwondo meet
KUCHING: The Persatuan Taekwondo Negeri Sarawak ( WTF) has entered 39 exponents to compete in the 9th TM- NSCMilo National Junior Taekwondo Championship 2018 in Johor from Oct 5 to 7.
Led by manager Terrence Phiong, the team left for Johor on Thursday.
The championship is divided into few categories; from age of 9 to 11, from age of 12 to 14 and from age of 15 to 17 in both Kyorugi and Poomsae events.
The Persatuan Taekwondo Negeri Sarawak president Azizul Annuar Adenan said it has always been their aim and objective to train and develop more young potential in high level competition.
“In addition, we hope not only to sharpen our young athletes’ skills but to overcome their weaknesses and improve on their strengths in preparation for various future tournaments.
“I hope our young athletes will try to put up a good challenge in the tournament,” he said.
The exponents are Marcus Ting Zhong Sheng, Vivid Ali, Phyllis Chin, Sii Chong Soon, Monica Lo, Lo Mei Yuen, Nur Humaira Abdul Karim, Chesley Sii, Sii Chong Yu, Chin Ying Shen, Wan Ismadzarthul Dahlia Osman, Austin Jason Pui, Yap Cong Han, If fah Syahirah Abdul Hanif, Willemien, Lai Lini, Lau Chuang Dee, Yong Chen Lin, Nicholas Tieh Xuan Huei, Gordan Wong Shou Hon, Michelle Kueh Ke Jun, Bong Swee Qi, Agnes See Jing Qi, Kevin Kho Chua Ming, Samuel Chong Poh Seng, Farah Nabilla Maddarus, Siti Yusriyyah Zailani, Wy’fi Firdaus Aziz, Samuel Ngalang, Quaraisyah Qadriyah Alffian, Jane Wong, Puteri Durratun Zulaikha Samat, Wong Siew Wen, Ahmad Uwais Al Qarni Abdullah, Mel Polycarp Umapu, Chesley, Sii Chong Yu, Georgina Kraemer Smimist, Anuwath Sarat and Zara Nur Zafirah Mohd Yusof.
They are accompanied by coaches Pui Jak Joon, Virtlam Umpau, Emmanuel Jose Buma, Wong Ing Sin and Nicole Chiew Mei Lin. Maltida Lika is the only referee from the association to be involved in the tournament.
