-

KUCHING: Watsons Malaysia is holding ‘Watsons Pink Ribbon’ campaign until Oct 29 to promote early detection of breast cancer among Malaysian women.

Themed ‘Together Towards Wellness’, the campaign is held in collaboration with The Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA) founded in 1986 by medical specialists.

During the campaign, RM1 will be donated by Watsons to BCWA for every RM50 purchase and above of products from participating brands, said a media release yesterday. Participating brands include Biore, Bioessence, Blackmores, Cetaphil, Gatsby, GVC, Hada Labo, Kate, Lifebuoy, Maybelline, Nano White, NH Detox, Nivea, OralB, Pure Beauty, Pantene and Safi.

Watsons members get a free RM10 voucher for their next purchase as a token of appreciation for supporting the campaign.

The pink ribbon magnet pin, which symbolises breast cancer awareness is also available at RM5 in selected Watsons stores, and on www.watsons.com.my with the proceeds channelled to BCWA.

Upon purchasing this magnet, customers will receive free health checks and make over by Watsons experts.

Managing director of Watsons Malaysia Caryn Loh was quoted as saying: “Breast cancer is the leading cancer affecting women in Malaysia and approximately one in 20 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, according to medical experts.”

She said all women should be educated about the early detection of breast cancer.

With the collaboration between Watsons and BCWA, Loh said they hoped that the donations from the campaign will enable the association to do more to improve the quality of life for women with breast cancer and to promote the right education of breast cancer to the community.
