Govt funds replacement tanks at Block 10, RPR Tondong
KUCHING: The sewerage problem faced by occupants of Block 10, RPR Tondong in Batu Kawa here will be resolved within the next three months.
Sarawak Housing Development Commission ( SHDC) chief executive officer Asman Ahmad said works to replace the septic tanks of Block 10 worth RM261,549 would begin anytime now.
He said the problem of the three septic tanks at Block 10 was first detected about two years ago and SHDC through the Ministry of Local Government and Housing had applied for fund from the previous federal government.
He said the fund was approved early this year but was scrapped following a change in government.
“However, the Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian wanted the problem to be resolved and SHDC has come up with this fund to replace the septic tanks here.
“So this project is fully funded by Sarawak government through SHDC according to the proper procedure,” he said at the handing over of acceptance letter to the contractor for the proposed replacement of three septic tanks at Block 10 here yesterday.
He said the project was awarded to Zul Construction Company as a result of open tender.
Asman hoped for patience and cooperation from the residents during the replacement works.
“There are bound to be some inconvenience during the course of work, and hopefully everyone can bear with us and the contractor,” he said.
Political secretary to the Chief Minister Tan Kai, who represented Dr Sim, witnessed the handing over of acceptance letter to the appointed contractor.
