Motivation­al talk to be held Nov 11

SIBU: A London-born Malaysian who lost two-thirds of his mobility in an accident will be here on Nov 11 to give a motivation­al talk.

Jointly organised by Sibu Spinal Cord Injury Associatio­n and Sibu Love Seeds Group, the talk will be held at the premises of the associatio­n in Permai Garden here at 7pm. Love Seeds Group’s leader Rebecca Sia said besides Leonard Chua, audience will also hear from Chua’s mother, Lim Ru Yi.

“The talk touches on Leonard’s life and how he overcame the odds to become a successful motivator,” Sia said at a press conference yesterday afternoon.

Leonard, an ex-model grew up in Malacca. An accident in 2005, when he was 24, turned his life upside down. The accident caused him to lose two-thirds of his physical mobility and two heart arrests almost cost him his life.

Leonard is determined to lead a fulfilling life and became a motivation­al speaker in 2007.

He has authored a book entitled ‘Nobody Can Stop Me Now’ which will be available for sale at the talk.

According to Sia, there will be 240 copies of the books in English ( RM50) and Chinese ( RM40) with part of the proceeds going to Sibu Spinal Cord Injury Associatio­n.

“Tickets for the talk are RM30 each. We’ve only 108 tickets available,” Sia said.
