Pustaka Negeri Sarawak to hold Sarawak Authors Festival 2018
KUCHING: Pustaka Negeri Sarawak will hold Sarawak Authors Festival 2018 this Oct 15-21. Local authors of all backgrounds and levels of experience are invited to the week-long festival which is open to the public as well, with different activities running from 8am to 6pm.
There will be Writers Clinic with History Writing workshop organised by Sarawak History Association, Dapur Penulis by Persatuan Pelancongan Warisan Malaysia Cawangan Sarawak and an interesting programme for the technology savvy on How to Produce a Short Film.
A workshop on Simple Bookbinding and Conservation for book lovers and collectors will also be held during the festival.
Other programmes include Pustaka’s book fair, meet authors session, aeromixthon challenge, digital content workshop, blood donation and health screening, as well as Chinese calligraphy for beginners.
As recognition of Sarawak authors who have contributed to the Legal Deposit of Pustaka, an Authors Gala Night will be held as well as book launch for publications in Sarawak by guest- of-honour YAB Datuk Patinggi ( Dr.) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg.
Sarawak Authors Festival hopes to inspire budding writers to tell the stories of Sarawakians in their own voice and styles, rather than adopt stories of other cultures.
Visitors can look forward to presentations and readings by local talents, gain insight from workshops, and push boundaries in intellectual session on literary topics. Meet local authors and try your hand at building your own fictional world or non-fiction writing.
