TM Sarawak presents ‘Donate Your Points’ contributi­on to POCBS

KUCHING: Telekom Malaysia Bhd ( TM) Sarawak recently handed over a donation of RM3,560 to Persatuan Orang Cacat Bumiputera Sarawak ( POCBS).

The contributi­on was raised from TM Sarawak’s ‘ Donate Your Points’ programme, where Unifi customers nationwide could convert their TM Reward points into donations.

For every 100 points, customers would have the option to convert the points into RM1 which would be donated to selected charity organisati­ons.

The cheque for RM3,560 (calculated from the conversion of 356,000 points from TM Rewards members) was handed over by TM Sarawak general manager Jafer Sadig Abdul Lathiff to POCBS president Adzohari Jamil.

Jafer expressed his gratitude to TM’s loyal customers for their generosity and support towards this noble cause.

“We are happy to be able to provide a platform for our customers, together with TM, to make a difference for the community.

“We are excited that we can lend a helping hand to POCBS to ease their burden,” he said in a statement yesterday.

According to Jafer, the programme is one of many undertaken­byTM–itdemonstr­ates the national telecommun­ications company’s continued commitment in helping those in need, not only in Sarawak but all over the nation as well.

Since TM Rewards was introduced in 2011, it has recorded two million registered members with a total of RM147 million worth of points issued to members.

The TM Rewards ‘Donate Your Points’ programme has so far converted a total of 33,765,900 points – valued at RM337,659.

To date, TM has distribute­d RM280,705 to three charity organisati­ons — the United Nations Children’s Fund ( Unicef) Malaysia, Medical Relief Society Malaysia ( Mercy Malaysia) and National Cancer Council Malaysia (Makna)—whileanoth­erRM53,394 have been disbursed to 15 nongovernm­ental organisati­ons ( NGOs) nationwide.

With this, TM has distribute­d the entire donated amount to selected charity organisati­ons.
