Buy family portrait vouchers to support Perkata

-

KUCHING: International awardwinning photographer Shen Yeo hopes to raise RM10,000 for Perkata Special School here to help meet its operating expenses.

To support this fund-raiser, just purchases a RM100 voucher from the principal of Perkata Special School, Doreen Tie. Payments must be made only to the school.

The voucher can be redeemed for family portraits at shensnaps, a photography studio run by Yeo.

Each voucher is strictly for 8x12 family portraits on professional paper which last for decades.

“Every year, I organise fundraiser for NGOs as a gesture of giving back to the society. Perkata Special School trains children with autism, Down’s Syndrome and those who are physically challenged; it needs fund to go on operating.

“The school has 116 students and 29 staff currently. The operating cost is high and it’s a challenge for them to raise funds,” said Shen.

He noted that the school offered, among others, language development for children with special needs on top of equipping them with reading and writing skills.

In 2016 and 2017, he worked on a project which raised some RM5,000 for Hope Place Kuching.

Shen said he also hoped to raise awareness on the importance of helping the underprivileged in the community.

The vouchers which expire on March 31, 2019 are available for sale until Oct 31.

To purchase vouchers, call Doreen at 082- 426301.
