Toastmasters urged to produce communicators, leaders
SIBU: Toastmasters here have been challenged to help produce more outstanding communicators and leaders in the society with their passion for toastmasters’ activities.
Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King threw the challenge on Sunday night when officiating at the joint office-bearers inauguration ceremony of the four toastmasters clubs here.
The clubs are Swan City Toastmasters Club, Rainbow Toastmasters Club, Rejang Toastmasters Club and Best Toastmasters Club.
“I hope more people will be inspired by the spirit of toastmasters in embracing the club’s mission which is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster selfconfidence and personal growth,” he said
On the newly elected committee members, he hoped that they could work together to innovate, invent and inspire their respective clubs to soar higher.
“May you support one another, learn and groom together in creating amazing results in your field,” he reiterated.
Tiong believed that the newly elected teams would carry on with the vision of their clubs to empower individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders.
Meanwhile, District 87 Programme Quality Director Wong Toh Hee urged all newly elected committees be close enough to relate to others but far enough to motivate their teams by touching base with all members, be in touch with toastmasters’ core values and learn to listen to members with their hearts.
Also present at the event were Division S director Hani Nur Zaihanirah, Area S1 director Goh Yee Chun, organising chairperson Annette Hu and founder of Swan City Toastmasters Club Dr Clement Chen.
Meanwhile, the event saw the 16th Installation for Swan City Toastmasters Club, 7th Installation for Rainbow Toastmasters Club, 4th Installation for Rejang Toastmasters Club and the inauguration of the Installation for the Best Toastmasters Club.
