Diabetes awareness day at Bintang Megamall Nov 4
MIRI: Diabetes Malaysia, Miri Branch ( DMMB) is collaborating with Bintang Megamall to hold diabetes awareness day on Nov 4 from 10am to 4pm at Bintang Megamall here.
The event which is supported by Miri Polyclinic in conjunction with World Diabetes Day, will focus on activities related to diabetes to raise awareness on health risks of diabetes.
According to DMMB chairwoman Ting Chiew Moi, there will be a launching ceremony with aerobic exercise, dancing, singing and performances.
In addition to these, booths offering free health screening will be on hand for members of the public to get tests on blood sugar level, blood pressure and body mass Index.
For the celebration of World Diabetes Day and World Diabetes Month ( 2018-2019), Ting said that the theme is ‘ The Family and Diabetes’, which stresses on raising awareness on the impact of diabetes to family and support network for those affected.
“More importantly, the campaign aims to promote the role of family in the management, care, prevention and education of diabetes.”
Ting also expressed special thanks to co- organiser, Bintang Megamall, Speed Fitness Miri, Warmonger Gym, T-Home Music Academy, Miri Senior Citizen Centre and Broadway Dancing Studio. World Diabetes Day is a primary global awareness campaign focusing on diabetes mellitus, held on Nov 14 each year, led by International Diabetes Federation.
