KUCHING: A total of 48 local and foreign golfers took part in corporate events organised by The Bank Rakyat Indonesia ( BRI) and Standard Chartered Bank at Damai Golf and Country Club ( DGCC) over the weekend.

The corporate golf tournaments are held at the club as part of its calendar of events.

“There are still a few more corporate golf events which will be held at our club until the end of the year and even though the monsoon season is here the golf course conditions are still good for the golfers to play,” DGCC general manager Roslan Mohd Salleh said.

Players in the BRI group were from Jakarta, Indonesia and had chosen to play at DGCC as part of their recent visit to Kuching while the participants in the Standard Chartered Bank event were mostly locals.

“We are happy t hat both events went well despite the wet weather and they had enjoyed their game,” noted Roslan.

The next event in Damai is the DGCC-KKB Monthly Escalation Medal ( MEM) tournament on Oct 21 which is open to all club members with entry fees of only RM100 inclusive of buggy, lunch, prizes and lucky draw.

The club is also hosting the SEDC Chairman’s Trophy Golf Tournament which is organised by Sarawak’s State Economic Development Corporation (SEDC Sarawak) from Oct 27 to 28. Over 100 golfers are expected to compete in the two- day event.
