Budget 2019: Sarawak youths want more educational, training programmes

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The Youth Wing of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Ber sat u ( PBB) want s the government to give more attention in Budget 2019 to school educational programmes and youth training centres in Sarawak as well as to rural infrastructure development projects.

At the same time, PBB Youth deputy head Fazruddin Abdul Rahman said, attention must also be given to technical education development programmes.

“It should be comprehensive, including a guide and advice to school-leavers and graduates on building a business, especially in technical areas.

“For instance, incubators could be set up with equipment which the youths could use to generate income as they would have difficulty buying the equipment in the early stages,” he told Bernama when contacted here yesterday.

He stressed that programmes which are connected to various agencies should be managed by a committee or placed under an agency so that the funds are optimised.

Meanwhile, president of Persatuan Bel ia Dayak Sarawak ( Pebedas) has urged the government to include an entrepreneurial assistance fund in the coming budget for youths in Sarawak.

Its president Alexander Frederick Diglin said these youths need the assistance to grow their businesses.

“The government has to think of a mechanism so that the funds are fairly divided and those who really need them will benefit,” he said.

He also urged that a special fund be set up for volunteer youths to disseminate information to other youths in Sabah and Sarawak who had limited access to the information. Alexander also urged the government to consider tax rebates for activities connected to youths.

Budget 2019 is scheduled to be tabled by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng on Nov 2. — Bernama
