Join a scooter picnic to Belawai Beach, 50 participants confirmed

SIBU: A picnic is being organised for scooter owners at the Belawai Beach on Dec 2.

Coordinating the event is the Scooterists Central Zone.

Its spokesman Saiful Rahim Alias, said the event dubbed ` Scooter Picnic 2018’ is open to all scooter owners.

“As long as they own a scooter, they are most welcome to join our picnic.

“They don’t need to be a member of any scooters club. And they can be of any gender,” he added.

Saiful said so far about 50 names have been confirmed. “They include members of scooters clubs in Bintulu, Sarikei, Betong, Mukah and Sibu.

“Among the clubs are Scooter Attack, Mopeds Community, Molotov Crew, Zodiex Community, Misasinus Motor Club, Nvx Sarawak and Vespa Sarawak Bintulu,” he disclosed yesterday.

He urged those interested to join the picnic to register by Nov 10 at the latest.

According to Saiful, all participants are to be at the Sibu Town Square Phase II on Dec 2 not later than 6.15am.

They will ride their scooters to Belawai Beach after a safety briefing and prayer.

On the objectives of the event, Saiful said, is to promote scooter riding as a hobby as well as to inculcate the people with respect for the safety of road users.

“It is also in line with the government’s effort of promoting healthy motoring sports in Sarawak, particularly in the Central Region,” he added.
